His Story
Jacob has a unique story, but you’ll have to be the one to bring it up if you want to hear the details. “It’s not that I don’t want people to know about my journey. I’ve always felt somewhat embarrassed when people compliment me, so I tend to avoid it!”
Jacob’s journey in the financial services industry is best summed up by his incredible weight loss story.
Weight was a continual issue growing up for Jacob. During his high school years, he ballooned to 407lbs. While attending Purdue he managed to shave 40lbs. off, but never could break through the 360 ceiling.
At no point though, did he believe his weight loss dream wouldn’t come true. “even as a kid, I can remember having thoughts of what I would do once I lost weight. Places I would go, sports I would play, and the hobbies I would explore. It never seemed too out of reach, even at my peak weight.” “While I can’t claim I’ve had the strongest self-esteem, I’ll take the world on if you put my back against my wall.”
Which brings us to April 2016. Jacob, with the support of his now fiancé Laura, started down a path of weight management through behavior modification. Over the next 20 weeks, Jacob would lose 107lbs.
He’s kept the weight off, ran 2 half marathons, and will run a marathon in October 2018.
He attributes his long-term success to 2 key tactics. “I kept the ideas and people most important to me at the center of my mission and I did the little things they told me to every single day.”
That’s the same mentality he brings to his clients.
“I want my clients to see I know what it’s like to be fearful of the future. To feel like you have little control over where the day-to-day is taking you. When you add in a planner who takes the time to learn what you want out of life, and in turn finds solutions to help fit your specific story, we may find lifelong success in holding to a few simple, yet important, tactics.”
“I want my clients feeling my energy and excitement for their dreams. I’m like the mom who takes a million pictures of their child for the first day of each school year. I’ll love on you to the point of embarrassment.”
Jacob graduated in 2013 from Purdue University with a B.S. in Management. He lives in Columbus with his fiancé, Laura, and their Newfoundland pup, Tonks, named after the Harry Potter character. He regularly serves on boards in the community and loves coaching youth football.
